Magic House

Paul Johnson Magic House 22 Mar, 2022 10 May, 2022 Magic House The book is made from Waterford watercolour paper coloured with applied industrial textile dyes and with pen and ink line work. It is loosely based on ‘Beauty and the Beast’, an accordion book in a box pubished by Walker Books in 1983 and on 19th Century ‘novelty’ toy theatres. As the pages are joined by dovetail hinges they can all be detached and the order re-arranged. Tree House

Paul Johnson Tree House 22 Mar, 2022 10 May, 2022 Tree House A ninety-degree unique pop-up. As it is designed to be seen in the round, like sculpture, my aim was to make it pleasing from whatever angle it is viewed, including from above. The book is made from Waterford watercolour paper coloured with applied industrial textile dyes and additional pen and ink line work. Winged

Antoinette Moorby Winged 22 Mar, 2022 10 May, 2022 Winged This was the first book I produced for The Bookband Art collaboration. I completed an online workshop with the London Drawing Centre on Matisse, looking at the way he used cut paper shapes to create art works. Following further research into his work I discovered his cut out and simplified bird shapes. I decided to take this idea and used different sizes and shapes of triangle to create my own birds.
